Christmas Wreaths

Dogwood Trails Garden Club's Christmas wreaths are available (while they last) at Sawtooth Mill Gift gallery. All proceeds from the sale of the wreaths will be donated to the Chamber's Beautification Committee to help fund the new Shell Knob welcome sign. (A beautiful rock structure to be placed just north of the Eagle's Lodge.) There are some gorgeous wreaths ranging from $10 to $60.

Shopping Spree Winner

Still Shopping

Judy Reynolds, the lucky winner of this year’s $2500 Shoppin’ in the Shell Shopping Spree, continues to find ways to spend her prize. Sponsored by the Shell Knob Chamber of Commerce and Shell Knob Senior Center Corp., the Shopping Spree was created to encourage people to shop local in the Shell Knob area. Several business members took advantage of this opportunity and were rewarded with purchases by Judy.
So far, Judy has purchased a new life jacket, swimsuits and gift certificates at Lakeside Marine Ski & Sports; Christmas gifts at Cabin Fever, Farmer’s Daughters Floral & Greenhouse, Sawtooth Mill Gift Gallery and The Red Barn. She bought gift certificates at Carole’s Restaurant, Steak Inn, Stumpy Burger, Old Church Gallery and Vanderhoof Gardens and purchased repairs from Ozark Air Conditioning.
Judy Reynolds has shown a charitable spirit by sharing her prize with several local civic groups: she purchased gift cards from Country Fresh Market and donated them to the Alliance of Churches, the Shell Knob Senior Center, the Community Building and the Lions and VFW Post 2203 military mailings. She also donated a Barton’s gift certificate to the Shell Knob Chamber of Commerce.
Judy Reynolds continues to spend her $2500 prize and fully supports the intent of promoting local business and Shell Knob Chamber members. Participating retailers are smiling when Judy visits their stores.

Promoting Tourism

2008 Missouri Vacation Planner

The 2008 Missouri Official Vacation Planner magazine is now available at
the Shell Knob Chamber of Commerce office in Timberoc Village. The free,
colorful 187 page planner is full of information and ideas for planning and
enjoying a Missouri vacation.
The Shell Knob Chamber of Commerce has an ad on page 169 as part of
their promotional efforts to advance Shell Knob and Table Rock Lake as a
quality vacation and relocation destination. This publication will be
distributed to hundreds of thousands of people throughout the United States.
The Missouri Vacation Planner includes articles on all types of events,
activities and attractions throughout the varied regions of Missouri. The
Planner also has several discount coupons, including ones for Branson
attractions.
Free copies of the 2008 Missouri Vacation Planner can be picked up at
the Shell Knob Chamber of Commerce.

2008 Vacation/Relocation Guide Coming Soon

The 2008 Shell Knob Vacation/Relocation Guide is in the final design stage. All advertising materials should be in the hands of our designer, Digital Medium. Any advertiser who has questions about their ad should contact Kim Chappell at 417-335-5860. The 2008 Guide will be distributed after the first of the year.

The Shell Knob Visitors Guide is one of the best ways to attract people to Shell Knob and promote the area and local business. Thousands of these guides will be distributed through the Chamber office, regional boat shows, Missouri Tourism centers and area businesses. Local residents will keep the guide handy for a reference and to share with friends and relatives. Through this joint marketing effort, each Chamber member can reach a much greater customer base and at a much lower cost.

The Chamber staff has been working hard to produce another attractive, useful Vacation/Relocation Guide. When this publication becomes available, make sure to pick up plenty of copies to distribute through your business or organization. It's how people find out about Shell Knob and Table Rock Lake.

Boat Shows A Comin'

The Chamber will attend seven boat, sports and travel shows this winter:

Kansas City Jan. 9-13

Quad Cities Jan. 18-20

Tulsa Jan. 28- Feb. 3

St. Louis Feb. 6-10

Rogers Feb. 15-17

Wichita Feb. 21-24

Omaha Mar. 6-9

Boat shows are one of the main avenues for promoting Shell Knob to a broad regional market. Thousands of Visitor Guides will be distributed at these shows. Our hosts will make personal contact with people looking for a vacation or retirement destination. Our new, professional display will attract people and encourage them to find out more about Shell Knob and Table Rock Lake.

Providing Community Support

Did you know the Chamber office recently served as an information center to help coordinate street naming as part of the new 911 system being installed in Barry County?

Did you know the Chamber office is serving as a drop-off station for items to be sent to our military service people?

Did you know that voter registration for Barry and Stone County can be done at the Shell Knob Chamber at any time during normal business hours?

Did you know the Chamber will post events for any local civic organization on their website calendar of events?

Meeting Minutes

Board of Directors Meeting

November 14, 2007

(This is an abridged version for readability.)

11-14-07 Board Meeting

The Shell Knob Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors meeting was held on November 14, 2007. Eleven Board members, both staff members and five guests were present. President-elect Judy Reynolds opened the meeting at 7:00 am. Judy asked all Board members to begin bringing copies of the previous month’s minutes and the treasurer’s report to each meeting. These reports will be emailed to all Directors prior to each meeting.

Sheila House presented information on Directors & Officers liability insurance which the Chamber does not presently carry. After some discussion, a motion was approved to purchase such a policy. Sharon Ott-Deal presented a 2007-2008 proposed Chamber budget prepared by the budget committee. After some discussion and minor adjustments, the budget was approved. Copies of the budget are available at the Chamber office.

Rita Hlasney of the Beautification Committee presented information on placing a large decorative rock on the Eagles Lodge property north of town. The rock would be marked with “Shell Knob” as a highway welcome sign. Brad Hayes of Accent Hardscapes presented an estimate for obtaining, marking, placing and landscaping such a rock. A motion was approved to allow the Beautification committee to solicit donations toward this project.

The 2008 Vacation/Relocation Guide design will be completed this week and be sent to the printer. The Guide will be available for distribution around the first of the year.

The December Board meeting will be held at The Playce on December 12 at 7:00 am.
