Chamber News
WHAT'S NEW FOR THE 2010 HOME & BUSINESS SHOW? It’s been 23 years since a few local business owners started a home & garden show in the Table Rock Lake Community of Shell Knob, MO. (Did you know Eddie Davison and John Coonrod have been a part of the show since it's beginning?) That little show has grown into “The Biggest Little Home & Business Show in the Ozarks” and is organized and sponsored by the Shell Knob Chamber of Commerce. With more than 60 featured businesses displaying information and products a home owner, buyer or renter needs, the Shell Knob Home & Business Show continues to be an ideal opportunity to meet and talk with experts in home building and improvement. After 23 years, what’s could possibly be new? Like everyone else, the Home & Business Show is getting greener all the time. This year Home Show displays will include information on green lawn care, energy saving appliances, insulation alternatives, energy efficient windows and heating and cooling options -- just to name a few. Of course the same great information on home financing, real estate, pet care, home care and maintenance, along with everything else attendees have come to expect and enjoy, will again be on display. Mark your calendar for Friday and Saturday April 9 & 10. Show hours are 5PM - 8:30PM Friday and 9AM - 4PM Saturday. Plan on joining the hundreds of people who will attend the show in the free-span gymnasium of the Shell Knob School. There will be something for everyone. For more information call the Shell Knob Chamber of Commerce at 417.858.3300 or visit shellknob.com/events.htm.

Planning Meeting for shakin' in the shell fest scheduled A small group of Chamber members who currently comprise the Shakin' in the Shell Committee, met recently to discuss plans for the 5th Annual Shakin in the Shell Fest. A few members of last year's committee are not available to work on the festival for 2010 and the committee needs help!! Be sure to enter the library through the back door. Please join us to ensure a successful Shakin' in the Shell Fest!!

Events & News From Chamber Members (This is a service to Chamber members; see information at the bottom of this page.) OLD CHURCH GALLERY in Old Shell Knob (FR 1240) will be re-opening for the year on Thursday, March 25th. Tom and Nancy have returned from their winter buying trip out west and have lots of new merchandise in stock. For the mineral and fossil collectors, there are beautiful amethyst specimens, rainbow fluorite towers, pyrite suns, 60 million year old fossil shark teeth, and 200 million year old trilobites, (just to name a few things). The jewelry showcases will have new Navajo jewelry, American turquoise necklaces, and natural gemstone necklaces (which Tom is busy creating now). For those looking to redecorate, there is a large selection of Nicaraguan pottery and large amethyst and citrine geodes and cathedrals. And from their personal collections, a selection of paintings and bronze sculptures by early 20th century American artists and sculptors. The ever popular Kids’ Gallery has new arrowhead pendants, visor-style magnifiers, singing frogs, chirping bird whistles, and fun art and science stuff. Spring hours will be 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Thursday to Sunday. Call 858-2510 for more information. With our backgrounds in geology, wildlife biology, and fine arts, many of our customers say that the Old Church Gallery isn’t just a gift shop, it’s an educational experience! FUN IN THE SON CAMP Once again the Fun in the Son Camp will have students looking to do community service projects this summer. The dates the students will be available will be June 8,9 &10 and June 15, 16 and 17 – they will be doing projects each of those days from 2 to 4PM. They are looking for projects to help people in need and that are not able to help themselves as well as improve the community. They want to do something that will make a difference in someone’s life. Please pass this information along to the appropriate members. I really need to have all the projects lined out by the 1st of May if possible. Thanks so much and God Bless YOU this day! Are you interested in putting an announcement in the Shell Knob Chamber's "Quick News"?
