ARTS IN COMMUNITIES PROJECT COMES TO SHELL KNOB The Shell Knob Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the Mid America Arts Alliance, will be sponsoring an Arts in Communities project entitled This Contest is for Real Hands: Rodeo Photographs of the 1930s from June 3rd to June 15th. The project will feature an exhibit of 30 black and white photographs from vintage negatives taken in the 1930s by Otho Hartley, who spent 20 years taking over 30,000 photos that documented life in the West. Also included in the project will be a musical program and storytelling. The photographs will be displayed at The Old Church Gallery, located on FR 1240 in Shell Knob, and details of the other programs will be announced soon. All events are open free to the public, kids and adults welcome. For more information, please contact the Shell Knob Chamber at 417.858.3300 or Old Church Gallery at 417.858.2510.
FIRE & THUNDER GOLF TOURNAMENT The Shell Knob Chamber of Commerce and Kings River Golf Course will sponsor the annual Fire & Thunder Golf Tournament on Saturday, June 5. This event helps support the spectacular fireworks display presented over Table Rock Lake each year in Shell Knob, Missouri. The Fire & Thunder Golf Tournament is a four-person scramble for men and women. The tournament will have a shot-gun start at 9AM on June 5 at Kings River Golf Course located on Lake Road 39-72, about six miles south of Shell Knob. Kings River Golf Course is a challenging, interesting 18-hole course situated on a long peninsula of beautiful Table Rock Lake. There will be prizes for the winning teams, door prizes and additional awards for closet to the pin, longest drive and other contests. Lunch will be served at the turn. All interested golfers can enter by contacting Kings River Golf Course at 417.858.6330. The entry fee of $50 per person qualifies each entrant for prizes and awards. For more information on this event and others in Shell Knob, contact the Shell Knob Chamber of Commerce at 417.858.3300 or visit shellknob.com/events.htm.
